These Are The Best Costcos In Every State—Did Yours Make The List?

There are a lot of Costcos in the U.S.—well over 500. Have you ever wondered which one is the best in your state? While this is by no means an absolute list of the best (most Costcos are nearly identical), these are some of the standouts based on ratings, services, and information found online. Which Costco is your go-to for stocking up on snacks or kitchen gadgets, and hitting up that much-loved food court? These are our picks for the best Costcos in every state—plus Puerto Rico!

Alabama

Alabama has four Costcos, and the Montgomery and Mobile locations have the highest Google rating. But when it comes to specialty items, the Mobile Warehouse also sells propane, which might be a plus for some.

Alaska

The NE Anchorage Warehouse has a slightly higher Google Reviews ranking than most. It has 4.5 stars compared to the 4.4 for the other two.

Arizona

The Both the Glendale and Scottsdale Costcos have car washes, but the Glendale location also has a home improvement department and wheelchairs available, making it our top choice.

Arkansas

Arkansas is home to one Costco, and it's in Little Rock.

California

California has 133 Costcos, which makes this one tricky. California doesn't get much rain or snow, but with all that driving, you'll want a clean car. To keep your vehicle squeaky clean, several locations have car washes including Lancaster, Norwalk, Oxnard, Poway, San Juan Capistrano, Torrance, and Victorville.

Colorado

The Northeast Denver location is set to open on July 19, 2023. While it's not open quite yet, many of the new Costcos have some unique things—perhaps sushi?

Connecticut

The warehouse in Milford has an ATM and a travel department, so you can plan your next trip there.

Delaware

The Christiana Warehouse in Newark is the only Costco in the state, which was opened way back in 1998.

District of Columbia

The one and only D.C. Costco is noted online to have wheelchairs available, fine wines and liquor, and tobacco.

Florida

There are 30 Costco warehouses in Florida, which makes it difficult to choose the best. But we did notice the Fort Myers location seems to have a large amount of departments and specialty items according to the Costco website, such as take out pizza and a bbq deli.

Georgia

According to a survey by FinanceBuzz, the Costco in Cumming, Georgia was the highest-rated store in the U.S. So out of all the locations in the state, it only makes sense it would be our pick. It scored a total score of 54.5 out of 60 and had the highest ratings for friendliness, stock, and quantity of samples.

Hawaii

We're giving the Maui Warehouse the top spot. It's a perfect place for locals or tourists to stock up.

Idaho

The Boise Costco is the only one in the state to have a car wash.

Illinois

Out of all of the Costco stores in Chicago, the South Loop location seems to have the most positive reviews. Several reviewers, such as this one, noted the great selection of Asian food products.

Indiana

The S Indianapolis Warehouse is one of the Costcos in the capital city.

Iowa

Coralville is home to the Costco with the highest Google rating in the state.

Kansas

The N Kansas City Costco also made the list topped the FinanceBuzz list of best Costcos in the country coming in at number two. It earned a 53.5 out of 60 and scored the high for stock, cleanliness, and friendliness.

Kentucky

The Florence Costco seems to have a lot of Google reviews claiming that this is a great location.

Louisiana

Out of the three Costcos in Louisiana, the New Orleans Warehouse takes the cake. Why? Well, it's New Orleans. It also has an outdoor food court. Pretty cool!

Maryland

One Google reviewer noted that the Costco in Wheaton has covered parking and is close to other stores.

Massachusetts

The Danvers Warehouse might be old (it opened in 1990), but many Google reviewers are big fans.

Michigan

The Costco in Bloomfield has plenty of positive Google reviews.

Minnesota

The Google rating for most Costco stores sits in the 4.4 to 4.6-star range, but the Minneapolis location has a whopping 4.7 stars.

Mississippi

The one and only Costco in the state is in Ridgeland and supposedly has take-out pizza.

Missouri

St. Louis has a few Costcos, but the one on Rusty Rd, has quite a few loyal fans. One reviewer has been a member at the store for over 20 years and cites its cleanliness, helpful employees, and great prices.

Montana

One reviewer wrote that while the Helena Warehouse is just like any other Costco, it has unique clothing styles that are oriented toward local weather and style, such as sweaters and flannels.

Nebraska

If you're not a fan of crowds, try the La Vista Costco, which is less busy than the Omaha location, according to several Google reviews.

Nevada

The Summerlin Warehouse in Las Vegas takes the top spot simply for its unique building. Most Costcos look nearly identical, but the front of this one appear to be constructed out of stone.

New Hampshire

The state's only Costco is located in Nashua.

New Jersey

One Google reviewer loves shopping at the Flemington Costco, noting that it's never too busy, even on a Saturday.

New Mexico

All three New Mexico Costco stores are in Albuquerque, so it's a little difficult to distinguish them. The SE Albuquerque Warehouse does have an ATM and wheelchairs available, which is a plus.

New York

The Port Chester Warehouse is special because it has two floors. Who's ever seen that in a Costco?

North Carolina

The Costco in Durham has take-out pizza.

North Dakota

North Dakota has two Costco stores, and the one in Bismarck is noted to have diesel, a service deli, and a special order kiosk, unlike the other location.

Ohio

The Centerville Warehouse is the fourth top-rated Costco in the country, according to the FinanceBuzz survey. It scored 53 out of 60 and had high marks for friendliness and cleanliness.

Oklahoma

The North Tulsa Warehouse recently opened in May 2023, and it not only has a self check-out, but also serves sushi and take-out pizza.

Oregon

According to its website, the Portland Costco has an ATM—it was also opened in 1983.

Pennsylvania

The Bucks County Costco is outside Philadelphia. One Google reviewer noted that it's one of the best Costcos in the state, and another wrote that it has a variety of produce that others don't have.

Puerto Rico

The Costco in San Juan is the only location in Puerto Rico that has a gas station.

South Carolina

With a Google rating of 4.6, the Myrtle Beach Costco has plenty of positive reviews. It's a vacation destination and one reviewer wrote that it has a lot of water, travel, and summer gear. Another noted that they have been shopping at this location for over 10 years.

South Dakota

The Sioux Falls Warehouse is the one and only Costco in South Dakota.

Tennessee

The SE Memphis Warehouse has take-out pizza, a BBQ deli, and APS processing.

Utah

The Salt Lake City Warehouse is the largest in the world, measuring 235,000 square feet, according to Deseret News. It's a hybrid warehouse and business center.

Vermont

Vermont has only one Costco and it's in Colchester.

Virginia

The Charlottesville Costco has plenty of positive Google reviews. This reviewer notes that they live near two Costcos, but prefer this location because it seems cleaner and the gas is cheaper.
