Baby Yoda is a powerful force. The tiny green creature with the big eyes (and even bigger ears) captured our hearts as soon as he peered out of his levitating bassinet in The Mandalorian. Since arriving on the scene in 2019, he’s inspired cheesy tots, bright blue macarons, pancake cereal, kitchen tools—and a galaxy’s worth of memes. Now you can bring a little Baby Yoda joy to your kitchen with this adorable DIY chocolate bark. It’s the perfect treat for May 4 (aka May the Fourth aka Star Wars Day), or any day you’d like to make your life a little sweeter. Here’s how to make it:
How do you make baby Yoda chocolate bark?
Use these tips to help you create a Jedi-worthy treat. Or as Yoda would say: Do or do not. There is no try.
— Mind your chocolate. We prefer using white chocolate bars for this recipe, but white chocolate chips also work. Bar chocolate melts more smoothly and sets up more firmly than chocolate chips, which have stabilizers that help them keep their shape. You can melt your chocolate in the microwave or on the stovetop. You can add coconut oil to the chocolate to help make it smooth and spreadable, but if you don’t have any the chocolate will still set up just fine.
— Spread it out. To make sure your bark is sturdy but not too sturdy, spread the melted chocolate about 1/4" thick. If you have an offset spatula, this is the time to use it. If not, a silicone spatula or even a butter knife works too.
— Bring on the treats! Now for the fun part: the decorating. If you have kids, this is a good project for them. Arrange the candies on the melted chocolate in a Baby Yoda-ish pattern. Put down a couple of black candies for eyes and then add some green gummy candies alongside for ears. Green wedge-shaped candies (like those in gummy fruit slices) work well, but you can sub in whatever you can find. (Pro tip: You can cut round gummies into half moons.) The brown M&M's are a nod to his robe and can be sprinkled wherever you like.
— Store it right. It’s possible that your chocolate won’t be tempered after heating (tempered chocolate has the crisp snap you associate with chocolate bars). If your bark is soft at room temperature, just stash it in the fridge. If it firms up nicely, keep it in a covered container at room temperature.
